If you recently received a Lease Renewal Offer, it may have included a Utilities Notice indicating that you will need to set up utilities in your own name because we are discontinuing the use of the utility manager, Conservice.
Why are you discontinuing Conservice?
Conservice charges $9.99 per month to manage and bill you for your utilities. In an effort to reduce the amount that residents pay for their utilities, and to streamline the process, we have decided to discontinue the use of Conservice. You will be responsible for setting up your own utilities, but you'll save a few bucks a month in the process.
How do I opt-out of Conservice?
If you are renewing, Conservice will be automatically discontinued at the start of your new lease term.
If you would like to discontinue Conservice prior to your lease renewal, email email@example.com once you have set up the utilities in your own name and we will cancel the service for you.
How do I set up utilities in my name?
Utility companies are regional and you may have a few options for providers depending on your zip code. Our recommendation is to do a little research into utility providers (electric, water, gas, sewer, trash, etc) that service your area and make the choice that suits your needs. A simple google search for "utilities in your county" should get you to the right place.
If you can't find the utility provider on your own, you might consider asking someone in your neighborhood for a recommendation.
If you're renewing your lease, you should start the process of setting up your utilities at least two weeks prior to your lease's expiration date to prevent any gaps in service. If a utility company asks for an activation date, select the first day of your new lease term.
