We know that moving can be a stressful time, and we’re here to ensure that moving out of your home is easy and stress-free. This article will provide you with all you need to know about moving out of your Great Jones home.
Move-Out Timeline
If you have not done so, please complete the Notice to Vacate form as soon as possible.
- 7 days prior to your move-out date: You will receive a Great Jones lockbox and a checklist for moving day.
- Day of move out: We’ll send you an SMS text message on the day of your move – once you are fully moved out, please respond via text to confirm the move-out and provide us with your new address.
- 30 days after move out: We'll process and return your security deposit (less any damages) to the address provided
Day of Move-Out
We know you have a lot going on today – here are the steps you’ll need to take in order to successfully move out of your Great Jones home:
- Remove all belongings from the premises and clean the house thoroughly, following our move-out checklist. (If you are not on a Great Jones lease, please also refer to your lease for the most applicable move-out checklist).

If utilities in the home are registered in your name, make sure to call the utility providers to deactivate the utilities as of your move-out date.

Leave the keys in the lockbox

If you have set up auto-pay with Great Jones, go online to the tenant web access portal and deactivate your auto-pay.

Text us at 239-932-3454 as soon as you are 100% out of the property to:

confirm you are moved out

provide your forwarding address for the security deposit return process

(if no lockbox) confirm where you have placed the keys and any remotes

*Rent charges may continue until you confirm your move out via text

Living Areas and Bedrooms
- Walls and baseboards wiped and cleaned
- Doors wiped and cleaned
- Floors vacuumed/swept/mopped
- Carpets professionally cleaned
- Window sills dusted
- Windows cleaned
- Blinds cleaned and working
- Ceiling fans dusted (including fan blades)
- Light bulbs all matching and working
- Touch up paint where needed
- Air filter clean
- Overall appearance of rooms left neat
Kitchen
- Appliances wiped down
- Stove top and range drip pans cleaned/replaced
- Stove cleaned (under and behind)
- Oven cleaned (inside and out)
- Microwave cleaned (inside and out)
- Refrigerator cleaned (inside and out)
- Refrigerator clean (under and behind)
- Countertops and backsplash wiped down
- Cabinets wiped down (inside and out)
- Doors wiped and cleaned
- Floors swept and mopped
- Light bulbs all matching and working
- Overall appearance of rooms left neat
Bathrooms
- Walls and baseboards wiped and cleaned
- Doors wiped and cleaned
- Tub/Shower wiped and cleaned
- Toilets cleaned
- Vanity and mirrors cleaned
- Cabinets wiped down (inside and out)
- Sinks and countertops cleaned
- Floors swept/mopped
- Light bulbs working
- Overall appearance of rooms left neat
Laundry Room
- Doors wiped and cleaned
- Floors swept & mopped
- Light bulbs working
- Washer/dryer wiped down
- Dryer vent emptied
- Overall appearance of rooms left neat
Garage
- Doors wiped and cleaned
- All trash and debris removed
- Floor swept
- Cobwebs removed
- Lightbulbs all working
Exterior
- Yard mowed
- Garden beds weeded and mulched
- Water system cleaned and filled with salt
- No trash left on the curb
- Debris removed from pool and filter basket
